The Grief Healing Journey · A Book Series

Gentle company for the days that still have to be lived

A series of quiet, nonreligious companions for the different shapes loss can take. No stages to complete, no timetable, and no one telling you how you should feel.

Find your book

No two losses are the same, and love cannot be measured from the outside.

Each book in this series meets one particular kind of grief on its own terms: a partner, a parent, a child, a pregnancy, a brother or sister, an animal you loved. Short chapters you can open in any order, on the day you need them. Read several pages at once, or one paragraph and then close the book for a month.

Sound familiar?

  • Their cup is still in the cupboard, and you still reach for your phone to tell them something.
  • The world expected you to be back to normal by now.
  • Grief arrives on the most ordinary afternoon, and a Tuesday undoes you.
  • People ask how everyone else is holding up, and then they stop asking about you.

You are not behind, and you are not doing it wrong.

When Your Grief Has Two Directions

A Gentle Companion for Grandparents After the Loss of a Grandchild

You lost a grandchild, and you are watching your own child live through it. A companion that does not rank your loss against your child's, and does not ask you to wait your turn.

Hi, I'm Natalie.

Every loss deserves to be met gently.

Grief shaped the way I saw the world long before I began this work. It did not give me a map for anyone else's sorrow. It left me with a lasting respect for how personal every loss is, which is why I will never tell you that I understand exactly how you feel.

Years later I began creating the quiet things a memorial service needs, for families I would often never meet. Their stories affirmed what I already knew: no two losses are the same, and grief should never be ranked or hurried.

My books do not offer stages to complete or a timetable for moving forward. I write for the difficult mornings, the ordinary afternoons and the anniversaries. Nothing in my writing will hurry you.

What you'll find, and what you won't

Every book in the series is written to the same promise, whichever loss brought you here.

Nothing ranked

Your loss is never compared to anyone else's. Grief is distilled from a love and a life only you shared.

No timetable

No stages to complete and no lessons you are expected to learn. Open any chapter, on the day you need it.

Comfort without doctrine

Warm and never preachy. What comes after is yours to believe; these pages stay with the life in front of you.
